Greetings All!
Things have been very busy for Vital Force the past month! We are two audio sessions away from completing ADR, a process we started the end of July! I’d say somewhere between 80% and 90% of the dialogue had to be redone so completing this has been no small task!…

My editing machine is currently tied up with capturing hours of footage for another project so sadly, I have no frame to display this week. Rest assured however, that things are gearing up with Vital Force!
ADR is going great! We’ve wrapped about 7 actors already and most of the others have been scheduled. There are still a few hold outs with massive schedule conflicts but I’d say 95% of the ADR should be done by September 24th! Big thanks to Ed Walker for helping us out with this!

Greetings all,
Things have kept me busy and away from blogging for a while. That does not mean that work has stopped with Vital Force. We are well into ADR and that will continue on into September. I hope to have 95% of the ADR done by mid September, holding out for those few actors who moved to L.A. for some reason…
I am prepping the paperwork for shopping Vital Force around the film festival circuit. To that end, I need to make sure I have all the right credits. Please visit the Vital Force c…

Frame of the Week: Scene 12: Larry Strong as King Edric

I realize it’s been a while since I’ve posted and I apologize. My attention has been pulled in many directions lately and as a result, post production has slowed down a bit. It’s now picking up again and some cool things…

Frame of the Week: Scene 12: George Sayah as Arik and Jamie Kearns as O’Rya

I didn’t spend a whole lot of time on Vital Force last week. Instead I spent a considerable amount of time preparing for this year’s Seattle 48 Hour Film Project which took place over the weeke…

Sorry about not posting last week. There wasn’t much to report. I’m calling in a lifeline this week. Ian will be joining me tomorrow to assist in some of the more complicated visual effects. There t…

Frame of the Week:
Scene 94: Tony Doupe as Danny Adair and Todd Licea as Dakari

Technically this frame is from two weeks ago as I spent last week trying to backup then fix the Vital Force hard drive (as well as fill out a million different job applications, still no joy on t…

Frame of the Week:
Scene 22, Josh Truax as Asa

I figure I have about two solid 12 hour work days before I’m finished with the visual effects that my skill set will allow. After that, I’ll have to bring in the “big guns” to finish out the remaining effects.
Work last week prog…

Frame of the Week:
Scene 110: Emily Mack as Saiben Vero waits for C.I.D. soldiers

Last week was tough. I’ve been working on the final shoot out sequence and it’s proving to be quite challenging. The pieces are easy enough to assemble, there are just so many of them! Ever litt…

Frame of the Week:
As I scrub through the scenes I work on each week, my time indicator will often land on a frame I like. I’ll export the frame and select one each to put on this blog. There were numerous frames to choose from this week. I selected this one from sc…

Last week was loaded with all kinds of pre, production, and post production meetings; many having nothing to do with Vital Force. As such, it has slowed my progress a bit. I’ve been taking a look at the “big picture” to get an idea of what’s left. I’ve nearly finished scenes 73-90 including first attempts at a color pass. After Effects has sensed my progress and has started acting up again. Two shots are currently held hostage, otherwise reel 4 (a continuous 13 minute portion of the film) is don…

Last week was a little crazy as I tried to slip back into the routine of post production after my two week hiatus. I was able to complete a few scenes with alien gunfire as well as get episode 4 uploaded. I’ve received wonderful feed back on episode 4! I am thrilled so many…

So I’ve been busy the past two weeks! I spent a week visiting my sister in New Jersey where I got to see the Statue of Liberty and a Broadway show! I highly recommend taking in a show if you’re ever in NYC! It was awesome. Right after I returned from NJ, I headed on up to Vancouver BC where I toured the sets of Stargate SG1 and Atlantis. Unfortunately they wouldn’t let us see the new sets for Stargate: Universe which premieres in the fall. Exciting stuff!
Now that I have returned, I will be jum…

Greetings All,
I got quite a bit of little stuff done last week. Several scenes with weapons fire are now completed. I also began exploring how to create some of the more complex visual effect sequences (zooming away from Earth, jumping into hyperspace, etc). I still have a lot to learn!
I received word from Tara that foley and sound effect work is progressing. We will be meeting in two weeks to try out some finished tracks.
I will be taking a bit of a break this week and next. I’ll be traveli…

After Effects, Cineform, “Looks” and I have come to a working agreement of sorts. I spent last week working on several small visual effects. I finished up a few holograms and added some of Dakari’s muzzle flashes, so now the mechanics are now in fact dead…sorry mechanics. I spent some time on the opening scene and the last shot of the film. These two shots are of news anchor Sarah Gilmore, played by Whitney Lee, against a green screen. These were not easy shots as keying was quite difficult. I t…

I spent last week working on various projects. As you may have seen, that included episode 3, directed by Dave Beresford. Episode 3 is the longest of the original 5 episodes coming in around 15 minutes. It has some great performances by Tricia Woods (Agent Caitlyn Adair). Make sure all your friends and family check out all the Vital Force episodes. It’ll help greatly when they go and see the feature!
Speaking of the feature, I did manage to get a few things done last week. I came up with a work…

The software and I are still not getting along but I did manage to finish the holograms for scene 15B. This is one of the pickup scenes we shot a couple of weeks ago. Most of the scene has been exported successfully, though there continue to be a few trouble shots AE and Cineform won’t release! I have an idea for a work around solution so hopefully all the pick ups with holograms will be exported this week!
We’ve got some great new material in from Taboo Studios in New Mexico! The Kayloran city…

So I’ve been spending a lot of time in After Effects working on holographic interfaces. With the Cineform codec, AE CS3, Magic Bullet “Looks”, and HD444 footage at 1920x1080, it has been difficult keeping the programs open and exporting the final shots. It crashes a lot. This has caused a bit of slow down with visual effects but work continues. I’ve completed the holograms for 3 scenes. One scene is still being held hostage by after effects! The other two have been successfully exported back int…
